Well guys, this is a long, colorful post, because I decided to just go all in and put all four days of Aman and Shiv’s wedding into one big post! When Kim Ho, from You’re Invited Weddings and Events first talked to me about this wedding, with us working at four different locations, I was both super excited and just a bit overwhelmed. I knew with Kim on board, it was going to look fabulous, but the logistics of setting up and taking down in four different locations, including moving things from one location to the next, would be a bit challenging, especially in October, our busiest month of the year. Aman’s vision for what she wanted everything to look like, with Kim’s execution skills, was just so beautiful! I’m just going to note that there is a lot of custom draping and designs on this wedding. We love doing custom work! However, custom work has to be part of a larger order, and is charged higher than a normal rental, as we have to order in special materials that we may not rent again, and it is a time consuming. But the results can be well worth it!
Aman and Shiv had a Sikh Hindu fusion wedding that incorporated multiple rituals, ceremonies, and parties throughout the week, as well a “western” reception on the last night. I’m not going to pretend like I know much about Sikh or Hindu weddings, so we took cues from Kim, and from Aman and Shiv’s families, about what needed to happen and how, especially when it came to the ceremony setups.
I’m going to break down the photos into the four locations where we worked. Each location potentially had multiple parties or rituals happening at them! The following team worked across the whole event:
- Coordinator: You’re Invited Weddings and Events
- Photographer: Jessica Roark for Epaga Foto
- Florist: Branches & Twigs
- Rentals: Us!
- Indian Decor: Kiran’s Decorations
- Lighting and Photobooths: Icon Event Group
- Stationery: BP Creative Group
- Catering: Touch of Asia
- Hair: White Carpet Bride
- Videography: Surveyor Creative
Part 1 – Aman’s Parents’ House
The henna ceremony plus a few other rituals were to take place at Aman’s parents’ house, in a tent in the backyard. But this being Kansas City, a big rain system moved in after we set up the tent, making it a wet muddy mess under that tent. So we came back and moved the backdrop and custom made lounge into the basement.
The lounge was a special challenge, as we didn’t really have anything like it in stock. I thought about what would look good and be most comfortable for people who are having to sit still while the henna is being applied, and came up with making a massive bolster out of some old drape for people to lean against. The original plan was just for some throw pillows, but the bolster made it easier for people to relax. The color palette of oranges, pinks, and purples, with a champagne base was gorgeous! I wanted to take all those pillows home to my couch!

Part 2 – 28 Event Space
The jaggo, a big, fun party the night before the ceremonies, was at 28 Event Space. We created an dramatic entrance of hot pink and gold draping, with uplighting to make it even more dramatic, and marigold garlands from Branches & Twigs. Aman had a vision of brightly colored bunting running throughout the ceiling of 28 Event Space, so we got sari-style fabric and made bunting from it. The result looked stunning. We also made a recovery kit station with a frame and colorful draping. Branches & Twigs took our Boxwood Walls, and added lattice and flowers to make a unique backdrop for the photobooth.

Part 3 – The Station
Both the Sikh and Hindu wedding ceremonies were held on the same morning, under the same mandap, at the Station at 28 Event Space. We created the mandap out of pipe and drape frame and custom blush pink chiffon draping. We also did custom draping with blush chiffon draping at the entrance to the ceremony space. We moved the wood benches over from the jaggo space for the ceremony.

On the final night of the festivities, Aman and Shiv hosted a “western” style reception at the Gallery Event Space. Like the ceremonies, we incorporated the blush chiffon, and combined it with gold and navy elements. Branches & Twigs built gorgeous cherry blossom trees to frame the head table. And that navy blue dress of Aman’s, I love it! Aman looked absolutely stunning all week.
