Blog: Farewell to Lauren

Today we are saying goodbye to our design coordinator, Lauren, who is moving on from Ultrapom to work at Cristo Rey High School. We are so excited for her in this next phase of her career, but are going to miss her so much as well. She was our first full-time employee, and was a key factor in helping Ultrapom grow over the past two years.

When you start a business, you wear all the hats, so my business partners and I were the order packers, design coordinators, delivery people, everything. As David, Kerry and I were first thinking about hiring someone to take some of all that off our plate, my uncle told me the best employee is a clone of yourself. But now, I don’t think that’s true. Lauren was not a clone of any of us, she was better at being a design coordinator than Kerry, David or I ever were. She was a pro at being the public face of Ultrapom, providing top notch customer service with a smile and grace. She figured out how to do things better, and established a structure to our processes to make them more robust.

Lauren started when Ultrapom was pretty small (heck, we are still pretty small!) and jumped right into the craziness of a growing business. She painted, cleaned, tore down walls, painted some more, worked in the middle of a construction zone without air conditioning, and did whatever she had to do to help Ultrapom succeed. I am forever grateful to her for being so committed to this business.

“Lauren’s ability to create order out of chaos has never ceased to amaze me. And even more amazingly, she does it with such poise and control, everyone leaves feeling good about the outcome.”

Yes, we took a ‘family’ photo. At a portrait studio. With a glorious backdrop.

“Lauren is an outstanding employee who makes both clients and other employees feel welcome and comfortable. Her exquisite attention to detail and design skills help add to the success of every event she has been a part of. She is a fantastic employee and I will miss her greatly.”
