Our gray and white chevron table runner has been featured in another photo shoot! The blog, the East Coast Bride, did a bachelorette party photo shoot with photographer Cassi Claire, for which we happily provided a table runner. Being a part of the photo shoot was exciting on its own, but then it got so much bigger when Style Me Pretty featured it on their website! Below are some photos from the shoot, but there are a lot more over on the Style Me Pretty’s blog post.

Inspiration – Feathering the Nest

I’ve gotten a couple of requests lately for birdcages to complement ‘Feather the Nest’ (or Feather Her Nest or Feather Their Nest) baby and bridal showers. This theme seems to be very popular lately! As with most any theme, it is generally good to mix up the items you use to decorate with so that it isn’t so monotonous. Incorporate different textures and colors through the use of milk glass, books, colored glass, table runners, and of course flowers.

And…I’m back! After an unplanned hiatus for the last couple of weeks while I feverishly made table runners for lots of different clients, I’m back with this week’s inspiration – more table runners! But this time, they are all made of materials other than fabric. This inspiration is a bit more fantasy than practical, because most of these table runners would be really time intensive or expensive to do in the large quantities generally needed for a typical wedding. However, if you’ve got the time and the inclination, go for it! (And share your results with us!)

The Five-Year Engagement Movie Ticket Giveway

Ultrapom has been given several tickets for an advance screening of the movie the Five-Year Engagement next Tuesday, April 24 at the Screenland Armour in North Kansas City!

The movie is about a couple (Jason Segel and Emily Blunt – I love both of them!) who have trouble turning their engagement into actually getting married. Jason Segel (from Forgetting Sarah Marshall) co-wrote it and Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, the 40-Year-Old Virgin) and Rodney Rothman (Get Him to the Greek) produced. It also has Rhys Ifans, Chris Pratt (from Parks & Recreation!) and Alison Brie (from Community! Oh yeah, and Mad Men) in it – what a great cast.

To score tickets, just:

1. Leave a comment here about your favorite crazy engagement story or like our Facebook page (if you already like us, just leave a comment!)

Client Baby Shower – Sweet Art Food Design & Event Photography

When Renee of Sweet Art Food Design and Event Photography in California contacted me about turquoise and white table runners for a baby shower she was putting together, I was happy to add them to my collection, and excited to see the photos! Renee put together gorgeous food layouts – I love the turquoise (technically “Blue Moon”) and tangerine together.

Inspiration – Spring!

When I think of Spring, the pastels of Easter to the more vibrant colors of blooming trees and bulbs come to mind, from Easter dresses and decorated eggs to redbuds and tulips. I love the flowers available for Spring – tulips, ranunculus, peonies and daffodils all have such beautiful colors and shapes.

Our milk glass and white ceramics would look great with Spring flowers, and there are lots of table runners in these photos that I would love to add to our collection! Contact me if there is something you are interested in!

Inspiration – ALL the colors

I’ve mentioned before that my friend Kerry is getting married and is big into color. BIG. If you asked her what colors she wants to use in her wedding her answer would be ‘yes.’ It seems like each time I meet with her, I end up doing another post inspired by her. She’s not technically doing a rainbow theme, she’s just looking at incorporating a lot of color.

I think when you do use a lot of color, it is important to also incorporate neutrals, like a white or beige, as a base, so the color doesn’t overwhelm the look. Milk glass, wood containers, white containers, and clear glass containers are a great way to tie all the colors together. OR, if you want an explosion of color, more power to you! We’ve got lots of colored glass options.

Inspiration – Cake Stands

A pretty cake stand, or better yet, a grouping of pretty cake stand really sets off cakes and desserts. They take some simple cookies or cupcakes and make them look more delectable. It’s all in the presentation! Cake stands are great in dessert tables, both at weddings and at baby showers or other events.

I think brass (as well as gold) is the next being thing in wedding design. It lends a bit of shine and opulence to the table, and differentiates a wedding from all the silver that has been so popular lately. Brass is still catching on, as most of these images come from inspiration photo shoots, instead of real weddings.

Bunting makes a big impact without a whole lot of cost. It definitely has a more rustic vibe, so if you are getting married outdoors or in a barn, bunting can add a great pop of color.

This week’s inspiration is in honor of a new rental item category on Ultrapom- mercury glass! Mercury glass looks great in romantic or wintery weddings and events. I particularly love the image with the silver sparkly tablecloth and the one with all the pink and red flowers and berries in mercury glass. So pretty.

Indie Wed!

Last week I had the pleasure of both providing an item for, and attending Indie Wed in Chicago! Indie Wed is a more targeted, unique wedding show that focuses on smaller, independent wedding vendors, and is oriented toward brides that are looking for something a bit different. The vibe at the show was so much more relaxed than other bridal shows I have been to, and it was jam-packed with vendors that do amazing work! Plus, Goose Island was there with my favorite Matilda beer and food pairings.

I think the part I liked best, obviously, was seeing one of our rental items displayed. Katie Jayne of Jayne Weddings Event Design and Coordination contacted me about using our Gray and White Zig Zag Table Runner in her booth at Indie Wed. Of course I said yes! I had already been planning on going to Chicago to check out the show (and see my sister and some friends), so I was excited to see an Ultrapom table runner in action.

Katie came up with such a cool, out of the ordinary concept for her booth, with lots of color incorporated through flagging tape, painted animals (love!), dipped silverware (love!), and pin cushion protea (an Aussie native flower, which of course I love!).

Colored glass and/or depression glass has been on my mind lately as I’ve been hitting a lot of thrift stores and estate sales, greatly expanding our range of colored glass and depression glass (though you can’t see it yet on our website – need to add a bunch of it still). I love the pop of color colored glass pieces add to a table. There are lots of lovely images below, as well as in my previous colored glass post.

New year, same blog post – inspiration from around the web! This week’s inspiration is paper flower decorations, mostly the flower poms that are so popular, but also some other paper decorations. I previously did an inspiration post on paper flower arches that you also might like. I love paper decorations. They are a great and cheap way to add color and a focal point to a space. We used them in our wedding!

Currently we don’t rent any paper decorations, but if you are interested in Ultrapom adding paper flower poms or the like to our rental collection, contact me or use the contact form to the left! I may be able to add them to our collection.

Ultrapom in KC Weddings Magazine!

This is so exciting! About a month ago, Emily Walters from Middle of the Map Weddings and Emmy Ray Floral Design, asked me if Ultrapom would be interested in providing table runners for a photoshoot at Mr & Mrs for a spread in KC Weddings Magazine. Of course I said yes! Emily chose our gray and white zig zag (aka chevron) table runners for a bridal shower shoot.

I didn’t know exactly when the magazine was coming out, so I was pleasantly surprised to happen across the spread while waiting to get my hair cut! You can check out some of the photos from the spread below. To see the whole thing and read the article, be sure to pick up a copy of KC Weddings Magazine at most bookstores, grocery stores, and retailers.

Inspiration – Apothecary Jars

Apothecary jars are great base pieces for making centerpieces or dessert tables (though I apparently didn’t include any dessert tables with apothecary jars in my dessert table post. Odd. Duly rectified in this post!) They also could be used to hold silverware, guestbook papers, or favors. There’s an awesome terrarium centerpiece shown below, which is another great idea for apothecary jars. My sister is really into terrariums right now, and she’s pulled me in – love them! Especially with succulents, but that’s pretty obvious from my previous inspiration posts.

Client Wedding – Leah and Josh

I had the pleasure of working with Leah and her mom, Sharon, on Leah and Josh’s wedding this past September. I met Leah and Sharon at the ReEvent, where I had half of the chuppah for my own wedding up as part of my display. They were looking for something a lot like my chuppah, and I was wanting to develop one that was a lot easier to maintain and set up than mine was. So my dad, husband and I, after a lot of brainstorming, came up with a brand new branch chuppah especially for Leah and Josh’s wedding. I think it turned out beautifully, and is an absolute cinch to set up!

Leah and Josh had a beautiful outdoor ceremony at Oakwood Country Club that our branch chuppah fit into perfectly. It couldn’t have been a better day for a wedding, as you can see from the gorgeous photos taken by the husband and wife team of Emily and Pete at Belltower Photography.

This is another wedding that Hitched Weddings + Events and I both did – but we were hired separately! It was just a happy accident that we were both working on it. Amy and Jess wrapped English Ivy around the branches and we laid out across the top the tallitot that both the bride and groom’s families provided.
