This client wedding is near and dear to my heart, because it’s the wedding of one my closest friends (and workers), Kerry! I not only supplied a bunch of different rental items, I was also a bridesmaid, so this is going to be a doozy of a post.
I have previously mentioned Kerry’s wedding planning in posts about color, balloons, and ribbon and streamers. Kerry loves color, lots of it, and her and Paul’s wedding is definitely a reflection of that.
Paul is a photographer, so hiring a fantastic photographer was high on their list of priorities. They went with Christine of Click Photography, and that was such a great decision! She does amazing work by capturing the character of her subjects, AND she includes animated gifs in engagement photos! It doesn’t get much better than animated gifs.
Kerry and Paul got married at the Weston Red Barn Farm, just north of Kansas City. The Red Barn Farm is a gorgeous, rustic venue set up on a hill with beautiful views of the rolling hills surrounding the town of Weston. Steve and Cindy who own the Red Barn Farm are fantastic people to work with. But I may be a bit biased, since I got married there too!
(for all you future Weston Red Barn Farm brides and grooms, this is what a reception of about 160 people looks like in the barn)
Kerry took one side of our Simple Modern Chuppah and tied ribbons to it to make a backdrop for their ceremony (my husband had to work out the support wires to keep what amounted to a giant kite from being knocked down by the wind). She used our 2 1/2 ft Shepherd’s Hooks to line the aisle with green mum pomanders. Our Black Pedestals were used at the ceremony site to hold programs on one end of the aisle, and to do a sand ceremony at the other end.
Kerry and Paul’s relationship first sparked at a Robot Wedding party that Kerry threw the night before my wedding. Kerry has a longstanding love of robots and Paul wanted to make a good impression, so he fashioned quite the robot costume for the party (parts of the costume makes a cameo in their engagement photos). To honor that first meeting, Kerry and Paul of course entered the reception doing the Robot!
The All the Colors theme really took off in the reception. Kerry made 164 placemats in 6 different colors – red, orange, yellow, green and blue for blocks of color on the guest tables, and purple for the head table. The ribbon backdrop for the ceremony was duplicated for the wall behind the head table. Kerry used some of our mercury glass to add a bit of shimmer amongst the flowers in our mason jars on the tables. All bouquets, pomanders and flowers by Adria at Bloom 47. She used our Vintage Metal Coolers to serve ice water and tea.
In keeping with their All the Colors theme, Kerry and Paul put out crayons in mason jars that coordinated with the color of that section of the table. Each guest had a piece of paper at their plate for them to draw a picture for Kerry and Paul to remember them by, as an alternative to a guestbook.
Instead of a traditional cake, Kerry and Paul hired the Cupcake Construction Company to set up a cupcake decorating stand, and used our teal scalloped cake stand, green ruffled cake stand, and ivory scalloped cake stand to display the cupcakes.
It was a fun-filled evening full of unique details and quirky surprises. Thank you, Kerry and Paul, for letting me share your unique, colorful wedding! For a few more photos of their wedding head over to Click Photography’s blog post.
